Introduction

Credentialing verifications are required and vary from accreditation body to internal policies and procedures.  The verification sources have been quite static over the past years with advancement in practices occurring with the expanded use of the methodologies available in which to verify a credential.

This session will address the top 20 elements – a solid credentialing verification program should include that are considered “core” sources.  Targeting this list of 20 doesn’t exclude specific cultural needs but will provide to the credentialing specialist, and/or a Credentials Committee or Medical Executive Committee (MEC) the baseline verifications that will help these professionals make informed decisions about the competence of a practitioner.

Areas Covered In The Webinar

  • Identify 20 key elements of credentialing verification
  • Describe the differences between standard practices and best practices
  • Explain a standardized process for performing credentialing verification

Why should you attend?

MSPs who are responsible for processing applications and reapplications and Medical Staff Leaders (MSLs) who serve on the Credentials/MEC Committees or as a member of these important committees will be able to utilize this top 20 list to validate compliance with their current practices, align with their written policies and adjust their practices accordingly.  There are times when verifications used are redundant, outdated, or not in keeping with contemporary practices.  Ultimately, it is the organization and the Medical Staff that will determine the legitimacy of making changes to their long-standing verification practices, but it is the role of a high-performing MSP to begin the conversation to ensure compliance, meaningful resources and engaged physician leaders are part of this process.
